How I Found Out I Was Suffering From Panic Attacks and Anxiety

Anxiety-Attack

About 10 years ago I started having some health issues. I was in my early 40’s and I started having symptoms of that were really strange. First though lets cover the work situation that covered up some of these issues. It was a very busy time for me at work. We had started one of the largest projects in the company history. I was traveling every week and still back in the office the next morning early. Then out of the blue the company decides to sell. All of the pressures, stress and working massive hours finally took its toll on my health. I had already exhibited many symptoms but was not able to put it all together. I was breaking out in a rash all over my body and no treatment seemed to help. I was always hot and sweating, and I felt like I could not calm down. I had a ton of energy and slept very little. Like 3 hours a day. My mind was clear but racing. I was also drinking about 3 pots of coffee a day. No kidding!

Even still this was working to my advantage I thought; because I was so productive by working all those hours. To top it all off I was eating garbage food everyday without regard to the weight gain and health impacts. My team and I would go out to lunch everyday and eat fast food mostly. Eventually we all started to gain weight so we decided to have  little contest to see who could lose the most weight by year end. I knew I had a few pounds to lose but I just controlled my portions and did not exercise at all. I started losing weight fairly quickly. I remember thinking how easy this was to lose weight. I was going to win this contest! Eventually I was in the lead on the contest and I was not even trying.

After a week or two I stopped controlling my foods and was still losing weight. That’s when I was really started to get worried. I remember I ate a whole box of Hostess Ding Dongs cakes in a few days to see if I still would lose weight. Amazingly I did! Now I was concerned that something was really wrong and that I could not stop the weight loss.

At the same time I started having hand tremors to the point where I could not write or do anything that required fine motor skills work without them shaking. Now I was really scared. I said nothing to anyone but thought maybe I had a brain tumor or some other disease here.

Eventually I turned to the internet (don’t we all?) and found several possible causes for my symptoms. The number one illness that I found that explained everything was Hyperthyroid Disease. I recall going back to my Doctor who had said all these symptoms were from a food allergy. Right! I told him what I found. He tested me and sure enough I was right.

I started treatments and everything eventually worked itself out. Then I started losing my better than perfect eyesight and needed glasses. I felt like I was falling apart.

Then The Big Day Came

I woke up with my heart beating fast and hard for no reason. I had never felt this before but it scared the hell out of me. I rested for a while. Did not say anything to anyone and it went away after a few hours.

Then a week later I woke up in the middle of the night with the same thing but this time if felt just plain wrong. The heart rhythm was all off. It felt like a weird drumming in my chest that was not at all regular. Call 911 and off to the ER we go in an ambulance. Found out I had Atrial Fibrillation and Tachycardia. Yes, what a great combination. A very fast and irregular heart beat. After being defibrillated or shocked back into regular heart rhythm my heart rate was still at 150. Eventually with medication it returned to normal, but very slowly over the next 16 hours. These episodes continued over the next year or so until I could not take it anymore. I could not function. My quality of life had turned to crap.

Panic Attacks and Anxiety

While trying to figure out what to do about all this I had a panic attack. I had no idea what was happening to me. I thought I was having another heart issue. This time I felt different. Sweating, shaking, anxious and nervous. My heart pounding hard, but regular. I could not think clearly. I could not sit still. I thought I might die.

I always believed the mind is very powerful, but I felt like mine had betrayed me. At this point I had no idea that I was having panic attacks and severe anxiety.  I was actually suffering from PTSD due the ER visits. It was so bad that anytime I would hear a siren outside or even on TV, I would have a panic attack.  I could not watch any shows about medical stuff as it would create anxiety. I don’t know why it took me so long to figure it out.

It got very bad to the point where I was having anxiety just leaving my home. Yet I still had to go to work and take care of the family. Everyday for several years was an extreme mental game I had to play just to keep moving forward.

CBD Helps The Suffering

I did not seek professional treatment but learned to cope and deal with it on my own. I did not even share this with my family for some reason. I wish now that I had done both. Slowly over time it became much better after I had surgery for my A-Fib condition. Mentally though I still had lingering anxiety from time to time and still do. I have discovered the benefits of CBD in the last year and this has really helped me greatly. I sure wish I had known about this years ago! If you are a person with PTSD, Generalized Anxiety or Panic Attacks, you should try CBD oil. It has helped a lot of other people out there and it may help you too.

PTSD and CBD

Hemp oil

PTSD shows no bias. It affects women in abusive relationships, children in traumatic homes and veterans, post-service. Associated with chronic pain, anxiety, addiction and suicide, PTSD treatment has eluded many of the 3.5 Million Americans searching for relief.

There’s new hope on the horizon: Cannabidiol. A new study from the Frontiers of Pharmacology suggests that CBD properties deliver acute and long-lasting effects in reducing fear memories.

CBD Hemp oil is NON-psychoactive, it will not get you high. This “whole plant hemp oil,” contains CBD and the variety of other natural plant constituents (terpenes, sugars, flavonoids, and secondary cannabinoids) that are found in all parts of hemp and are believed to work better together with the endocannabinoid system.

The endocannabinoid system is a series of cannabinoid receptors involved in maintaining the body’s homeostasis, with a strong impact on feelings, mood, pain perception and movement. CBD helps to relieve the effects of PTSD by way of this system.
